English Language Challenges
Hi classmates! I hope you are doing well.
In this last occasion I am going to talk to you about my English language challenges. For starters I am going to tell about my experience of learning to speak English at the University of Chile.
Since I was a child never had a good base of the English language, because in my
school the teaching of this subject was very simple. Until my last year of school I only learned some basic words, like colors, numbers, animals, among others.
Because of this reason, when I entered to the
university I did not knew anything about the English language and I was
selected in section one (which is the most basic). It has been three
years since I had my first English class at ICEI, and I can say that I have
learned some things, however, I still have a lot to explore and learn. I
believe that my weakest point is that I do not use the grammar of this
language, and I also need a lot of vocabulary to learn.
About the blogs, I think that are a super good initiative to learn to write in English, since personally I feel that they helped me a lot to release my writing. But I think it would be better to make blogs at home, because they take a lot of class time that could be used in other interaction activities between teacher and students.
Another of my challenges in this subject is to
lose the shame to converse in public, because every time that I try to speak in
English, I am afraid of the reaction that other people can have when they hear
me speak. This happens, because I pronounce very bad some words.
I also consider that I need more enthusiasm to learn to speak English, because I have always given more importance to other subjects of the career than to this one. Many times the academic load prevents me from devoting all the time I would like to English, which has delayed my learning in this area.
For other side, Outside
the English class my use of this theme is quite low, because I do not like to
listen to a lot of music in English. I always prefer to listen to music is
Spanish because I can understand what the song expresses. I think the only
instance to practice English is when I watch series on Netflix, since I like to
see them with subtitles in Spanish because I hate the dubs hahaha.
For improved my English, one of my plans for the future is to take an intensive English course, to devote myself exclusively to learning this language. Because I would love to know Australia <3 and I can not travel there with the level of English I handle today.
I agree with you about that we are not more importance to English because the other subjetcs of the career consume more time ))): This way, is really complicated learn english :C
ResponderEliminarYour pronunciation is good! You don't have to be ashamed of that (anyway, it's normal to be afraid when you have to talk in public haha)
ResponderEliminarCamila, you were so shy in the course hahaha. Your English is very good though and seriously you have wonderful pronunciation. Now you have to get rid of your fear of public speaking hehe. Try watching series with subtitles in English to practice
